The nucs we sell grow very quickly. Learn how to know when to add a box and how exactly to do it. We’ll cover how much they will grow and what to expect (& do!) each month through October. As the summer progresses, you will want to be closely monitoring varroa mite levels. In October, you will likely need to take 1-2 boxes off the hive and may get to harvest honey.
We recommend that you take our hive inspection class before taking this class, so you have the foundation of what to look for in a hive and how to use the tools to inspect.
You will receive video & audio recordings of the class.
Instructor: Jennifer Radtke has been keeping bees in her backyard for 20+ years, and has developed the beekeeping education program at the Urban Farm Oasis. She is former vice-president of the Alameda Co Beekeeping Association.
